Using Photo Stamps in BuildPass

Add clear, automatic context to every downloaded photo for better records and reporting

What are photo stamps?

Photo stamps let you automatically add key details directly onto your photos when you download them from BuildPass. This is handy for keeping clear records of site activity, especially for audits, reports, and defect documentation.

When enabled, stamps can show:

  • Project name

  • Name of the person who uploaded the photo

  • Date the photo was taken

  • GPS location coordinates (only available in certain situations, see below)

Please note: BuildPass has two types of stamps on photos. The stamps you see at the top of a photo when viewing it in the admin app (such as the date and uploader) are separate from Photo Stamps, the feature covered in this article. Photo Stamps are the details overlaid directly onto the photo image itself, and these are only visible when you download the photo.

How to turn on photo stamps

Photo stamps are off by default. Here's how to enable them:

  1. Go to Photos in your BuildPass project

  2. Open Gallery Settings

  3. Turn on Photo Stamps

  4. Choose which details you want to appear on the stamp

You can mix and match; only the fields you select will show on downloaded photos.

How to export photos with stamps

Once photo stamps are enabled, here's how to download your photos with the stamp applied:

Downloading a single photo:

  1. Go to your Photos module in the admin app

  2. Select the photo you want to download

  3. Click Download

  4. Choose the option to Download with timestamp

Downloading multiple photos at once:

  1. Go to your Photos module in the admin app

  2. Select all the photos you want to download

  3. Click Export, then Download files

  4. Choose with timestamp

Will stamps show on my older photos?

Yes! Once you turn on photo stamps, they will apply to all photos in your gallery, including those uploaded previously. The stamp is generated fresh each time you download, so your original files are never changed.

  • Turning stamps on will show them on all downloads going forward

  • Turning stamps off will remove them from future downloads

  • Older photos will show whatever details were saved with them at the time of upload (such as the uploader's name, the date, etc.)

GPS Location Coordinates on Photo Stamps

For GPS coordinates to appear on your stamp, we recommend taking photos using your phone's native camera app (with location services on) and uploading them to BuildPass via your gallery. Photos taken using the BuildPass in-app camera will still download with all other stamp details, just without GPS coordinates for now.
