How to connect BuildPass to an AI assistant using MCP

Connect Your Chosen AI Platform Directly To Your BuildPass Account

Written by Joanna Zervakis

BuildPass supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants connect directly to your BuildPass account. Once connected, an AI assistant like Claude can read and interact with your BuildPass data, such as projects, workers, sign-ons, actions, and more, without you needing to copy and paste information manually.

This article explains how to find your BuildPass MCP details and connect them to a supported AI assistant.

Please note that the BuildPass MCP is currently Experimental

Why use MCP with BuildPass

Connecting BuildPass to an AI assistant through MCP gives the AI live access to your account. This means you can ask it questions, run reports, look up records, or take actions directly inside a conversation, making it significantly faster than switching between tools or manually searching BuildPass.

Before you start

  • You must be a BuildPass Admin (Owner or Manager Admin) to access MCP settings.

  • You will need access to a supported AI assistant that accepts custom MCP connectors (for example, Claude on a Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan).

How to find your BuildPass MCP connection details

  • In BuildPass, navigate to Settings > More Settings > Scroll across to the MCP heading.

  • Please follow the steps outlined for your preferred MCP connection method within the BuildPass MCP settings page.

Having Trouble Connecting to your MCP?

  • The integration isn't connecting

Make sure you have copied the full MCP server URL from BuildPass without any extra spaces.

  • I don't see the MCP option in BuildPass Settings

MCP settings are only visible to BuildPass Owner and Manager Admin users. If you cannot see the option, check with your BuildPass administrator.

  • I don't see an Integrations option in Claude

Custom integrations in Claude are available on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. If you're on one of these plans and still can't see the option, there are two possible reasons:

  1. Your organization's IT team may have restricted the ability to add custom connectors.

  2. This feature may only be accessible to Organization Claude Owners.

In either case, we'd recommend checking with your IT team or reaching out to your Claude Organisation Owner to confirm whether custom MCP connections are permitted in your organisation's setup.
