BuildPass separates staff and workers to clearly reflect who employs someone, not what permissions they have in the system.

Staff

Staff are people who have selected your company (the builder) as their employer in BuildPass.

  • Employed directly by your business

  • Appear under your Staff list

  • May be assigned different system roles (for example, admin or standard user), but role is separate from staff status

Example:
An office administrator, engineer, or site employee who works directly for your company.

Workers

Workers include everyone on site, regardless of who employs them.

  • Includes your staff and workers from other companies

  • May belong to subcontractors, suppliers, or consultants

  • Appear in the Workers register

  • Typically interact with inductions, sign-ons, forms, permits, and SWMS

Example:
A contractor or labourer employed by another company working on your site.

Important to Note

  • Staff vs worker is based on employment, not access level

  • User roles (admin, manager, project manager, etc.) are managed separately

  • A staff member can be an admin, but not all staff are admins
